How Long Can You Have a Mobile on a Crib? Safety Guide

You can generally use a crib mobile until your baby begins pushing up on their hands and knees, or reaches 5 months old, whichever comes first. Remove it sooner if your baby can reach it, pull on it, or if the mobile’s instructions give an earlier removal point.
Age is a helpful guide, but your baby’s abilities matter too: babies develop at different rates, so a mobile that was out of reach last month may not stay that way. We recommend checking its position regularly as your baby grows and taking it down as soon as it is no longer safely out of reach.

Attach the mobile according to its instructions, with every part well beyond your baby’s reach from any position in the crib. Consider how far your baby can stretch or roll, not just where their hands rest when they are lying still.
Keep strings, cords, and hanging pieces away from your baby, and never lengthen them or add your own ties to make a mobile fit. A mobile should be securely attached to an appropriate crib surface without interfering with the mattress or creating loose parts in the sleep space.

Bluetooth Baby Cloud Crib Mobile with Musical Rattles
Our team suggests making the mobile part of your regular crib check: look for loose fasteners, damaged pieces, or anything that has shifted closer to the mattress. Stop using it if it cannot be secured as instructed or if any part is damaged, and follow the manufacturer’s directions for care.
Once it is time to remove the mobile, keep your baby’s sleep area clear rather than placing the mobile or its hanging pieces inside the crib. For more on use and safety, read our crib mobile guide.
Our Bluetooth Baby Cloud Crib Mobile with Musical Rattles is one option to consider when you are preparing a nursery. Whatever mobile you choose, confirm that its attachment method suits your crib and follow its specific assembly and removal instructions.
A mobile is for looking at from a safe distance, not for your baby to grasp or play with in the crib. If you are unsure whether your baby can reach it, remove it and reassess the setup before using it again.
Stop using the mobile as soon as your baby can reach or pull it, even if they are younger than 5 months. Also remove it if it becomes damaged or cannot be securely attached according to its instructions.
